Ms. Keri has done it again! Providing the clueless men with a self explanatory ditty and encouraging girl power to those who need it most. From the beginning of her career she has shown that you can stress talent while still maintaining your sexy side. Penning the R&B hits '4 Minutes' for Avant and 'Take Me As I Am' for Mary J. not only solidifies Keri's legitimacy in the music industry, but has made her the unofficial Pretty Girl ambassador;
giving men a how-to in how ladies should be treated, and women a sense of pride for themselves. Pride has been a missing message in music as song after song instructs women to "drop it low", "bend it over", and "give that Becky". The majority of radio hits are not geared towards the respect of women, even though women are the main demographic who actually buys music. With the falling quality of "albums" [consisting of an average of 9 tracks/45 minutes of music], I know I will be spending my hard earned $12.99 [or so] on Hilson's up and coming release 'No Boys Allowed' that is scheduled to be in stores December 21st.
There a legion of miserable bloggers who love to bash a person with a vision, but try not to be so literal with the title of the project. No boys allowed simply means "no bullshit allowed...in this album I was screaming in a room with all my girlfriends. Yelling all the things we really say," explains Hilson. Similar to what us women share when we take a trip to the ladies room. We verbally chop down the boys and give each other what lose advice we can afford to spend. And celebrate the men who make us feel so good.
This album is about honesty; the factor that separates boys from men, and the girls from the women. And all grown folks know, honesty isn't for everybody... and that goes for Hilson's sophomore album as well.
Watch Ms. Keri as she pays homage to such women in music as Josephine Baker, TLC, Beyonce, and Janet Jackson in her video for the single 'Pretty Girl Rock'... working the hell outta those legs!
